Artistic Team

Melissa Chin-Parker is TWS’ Artistic Program Director.  She became a member of TWS in 1987 and resident staff in 1994.  In 1995 Melissa began working to grow the YC Program, and she is very pleased to have such talented and dedicated members returning to lead the YC programs in 2007.  Melissa is very excited to hand off many of the responsibilities of coordinating YC programs & activities to her friend and colleague, Susanne Burns, as TWS’ YC and Outreach Coordinator, who will be working closely with longtime YC director Donna Federico to provide consistently excellent experiences for our actors.

Susanne Burns returns to TWS after serving as Melissa’s assistant & Educational Management Associate, as resident actor from 1996 – 1999,  and one of the project directors of PtT & YCP in 2004 & 2005.  Susanne received her MFA in directing from UNLV and was recently the Education and Outreach Director for Playhouse Merced, before moving back to Monterey County.  Susanne directed several 2007 projects, including YC production of A Thousand Cranes, and The Hostage in TWS’ REP Studio Theater.  Other directing credits include: The Underpants, Fuddy Meers, Floyd Collins, Annie Get Your Gun, and Oedipus Rex  at the International Theatre Festival in Delphi Greece as Assistant Director to Literature Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka.

Donna Federico is a long-time director for Young Company and TWS resident staff member. Donna received her MFA in acting and immediately joined TWS. During her tenure here, she has served as resident actor and the Hair & Makeup designer for countless shows.  Donna is proud to have directed YCP titles such as Jugger’s Rain, Liza and the Riddling Cave, The Code Breaker, The Witch of Blackbird Pond, The Curate Shakespeare As You Like It, and many, many summer projects like Canteen, The Andersen Project, For the Love of Arlen, Voices of Poetry and When Children Ruled the World.

Robin McKee-Williams is Young Company’s musical director for summer YCP projects and singing teacher for YOU*THeater Camp.  Her training includes the Royal Conservatory of Music, Stanford University, San Jose State University, and certification as a voice specialist by the McCloskey Institute of Boston.  She is working on a doctorate in music from Boston University.  Robin is one of three certified McCloskey specialists on the West Coast, and the only one in California, and her incredible understanding of the physiology of the human vocal mechanisms give students strong and healthy techniques for the voice. This is a very different and most efficient approach to releasing your vocal potential. Robin’s private studio students and clients come from all over the U.S., and she is offering her skills to us!
